The husband and I have a tradition. We don’t do Christmas gifts. Instead, we celebrate Halloween which is easily our favorite holiday of all time. We just love the liveliness and happiness (and costumes!) of Halloween, and we feel that better reflects us and our beliefs than Christmas. Even when we weren’t engaged, we still did Halloween together. It’s kinda our thing.
This year I bought a Halloween gift, but didn’t mail it out. He will be here in another two weeks, so I thought it made sense to just give it to him. I didn’t even contemplate him getting me anything, because we had both agreed that it would mean that I would just have to pack it all up. But lo and behold, a package was sitting on my doorstep when I got home today.
Inside the box I found a wonderful journal with a mysterious note, a Halloween card that said “Holy Sheet” (which is a great pun), a small teapot (the box shows white, but mine is actually a lovely robin’s egg blue), and some loose tea (in a flavor I had tried while down there and deemed my favorite). The husband done good. I think I might add an item or two to his gift so ours match a bit more.
Post inspired by a Halloween gift.
